Sometimes I think we forget exactly how far we've come because we're so concerned about where we are going.
We lose sight of all our achievements because we are too busy thinking about our failures.
I know for myself personally I've been disappointed with some aspects of my life that I haven't completed or achieved. I guess we put this pressure on ourselves because we live in a fantasy world where your suppose to have certain things and do certain things by a certain age.
Buy a house, have a few kids, get a nice car and go on holidays frequently. Yeah yeah like that's going to happen. But that's what we are suppose to do right?!
Well as far as I'm concerned that is no longer my life plan, actually I have no plans. The old OCD me would be getting sever eye strain from extreme eye rolls if I wrote this three years ago but Erbhie 2.0 has learnt that life can't be planned.
We need to start taking things as they come and enjoy it as much as we can. There's only so much in your life you can control and then there's somethings you just need to let run their course.
For example; Old Erbhie thought - Married with kids by the age of 25... Now I'm 27 have a dog, a serious life partner and living in a granny flat under my uncles house... Yes well that's not exactly what I had planned but right now I run my own business, choose when I work and have full control over my happiness all because I let go and run with what life throws at me.
Disappointment comes when you set plans that are not in your control. I can't force my boyfriend to marry me and give me two children but what I can do is enjoy and appreciate every moment we have together and if things work out then maybe life's course will take us down that path.
Life can't be planned and like any adventure, the most fun comes from things you least expect.
Make memories not plans. Love yourself and where you are in life. Appreciate the little things and take each day as it comes. The past isn't a place, you don't have to live there and The present is where you should reside your presence ❤️
